I missed a blog post a week or two ago, so I'm trying to catch up, and posting an extra one. A few days ago I was thinking to myself about I got long and longer between discovering new songs, that get me really excited about finding a new song. I feel like I've just listened to so much of what is out there (at least in terms of the kinds of music I like to listen to). A large part of this is probably due to the fact that I don't get much of a chance to look around for new music or by music on different media. That being said, this week I discovered a song that I'm really excited about.
last weekend I watched a documentary on George Harrison. I am already a huge Beatles fan, I'm pretty sure I've talked about it before. The documentary talked about Harrison's song My Sweet Lord, which I believe I have heard before in passing, but had never given it much thought. Actually I never gave Harrison's solo career that much thought. It's not that I don't like George, I do, that's just how it played out. Since the weekend I haven't been able to stop listening to My Sweet Lord. I'm not sure what it is about it, it's just so catchy and soothing. It's been my soundtrack all week. I thinking finding it now was perfect timing, because I just seem to be in a place in my life where the song really speaks to me. Anyway, here it is.
"What Is Life" is my favourite Harrison tune. Amazing how his music sounds lightyears ahead of late Beatles as far as 60's to 70's transition when it was released in '70-71.
